BUILDING COMMUNITY

Building a strong and inclusive community is an integral part of who we are as a PAC, as a school and as members of our wonderful community. We want our school culture to be one of acceptance and belonging, and it is for this reason that we strive to create fun and engaging events that provide opportunities to get involved and create connection. So come on out! All are welcomed!

School BBQs

Twice a year, in September and June, we plan a fun BBQ for all of our students, staff and their families. It is an opportunity to connect with each other, enjoy fun activities and yummy food! You don't want to miss it!

The event activities are free of charge! We offer optional food for purchase, and food orders should be placed by submitting the order forms prior to the BBQ.

Movie Nights at the school

Twice a year, we host a fun, family-oriented and free movie night! The kids are encouraged to come in their pyjamas, bring their favourite blanket or stuffed animal, and settle in for a family-friendly movie in the big gym.

Movie snacks are available for purchase. Pizza and drinks must be ordered ahead via our order form.

RSVP to attend movie night is not necessary. Students must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Wellness events at the school

We love to host fun events with a focus on promoting healthy lifestyles including the mind and body. So far, we've had great success with our Yoga and Zumba nights, and you can expect to see more of these events in the future!

These events are free, and students must be accompanied by a caregiver. Due to our limited space, RSVP is required for each event by emailing us at evbpac@gmail.com

Staff Appreciation events

Our school staff work so hard to bring our students their very best every day, and we like to show them how much we appreciate it! We plan 3 delicious treat days throughout the year around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day, as well as an annual lunch in the spring. We know the staff feel so special when we do this, and it really is our pleasure!

Home Alone Workshop

This workshop is always very popular for our 10 and 11 year old students, and we will be making it an annual event. This workshop teaches the kids how to be safe and responsible while at home alone.

The event is free. RSVP to save your seat!

Recycling program

Raising our students to be environmentally conscious and responsible individuals will instill good, sustainable habits at an early age that students can take with them wherever they go. Through a partnership with Staples Canada, Terracycle recycles pens, markers, highlighters and mechanical pencils. We also collect empty cereal bags and cereal liner bags. These items are cleaned, sorted and shredded to make new benches, picnic tables and playground equipment! We receive 2 cents from Terracycle per cereal bag recycled, so it even earns us a bit of money for the school!
We also participate in saving used grocery-style plastic bags for Winnipeg Harvest through their Bag it Forward program. Every year, Winnipeg Harvest uses over a million plastic bags to hand out their food kits. We collect clean used grocery-style bags with longer handles for this cause. The kids have been enthusiastic participants in collecting and sorting the bags in past years, and an Earth Day contest in 2017 yielded a whopping 30946 bags in less than 2 weeks! Our school was recognized by the provincial legislature and was on the news due to our efforts!
